...man, a whole month and no post.  I'm lazy and not feeling like I have much to say.

We started re-doing the bathroom a few weekends ago.  Making progress, but slowly.  Hopefully Dave will get some more things done this weekend while I am in Austin fisiting Holly.

When I figure out how to attach pictures, I'll post some.  Too bad I can't find pictures of the hideousness it was before.  We are however leaving some of the old wallpaper up behind the wainscoting as a time capsule.  It was fun for us finding all the various colors of paint under the wallpaper.  Who has a hot pink bathroom?  And at one point it was also 2 different colors of purple...like crayola box purples, no soft muted purple....

So, I decided that after spending a weekend with little kids that I really DO want to have kids someday.  Not tomorrow...but sometime after getting to a healthy weight and before I am 35.  Today was a good step one.  No walk with the dog (he didn't wake me up) but I did resist chocolate chip cookies.  I had a crummy afternoon at work and was thinking "mmmm...Famous Amos cookies from the vending machine would taste good right now."  And I even walked into the kitchen (home of said vending machine) to refill my water glass and said aloud to myself, "Just say no to the chocolate chips...Just say no."  And I did...I walked back to my desk, packed it in for the day and ate carrots in the car on the way to my meeting.  Pretty proud of myself for that one.

So, I didn't walk the dog Wed, Thurs, or Friday...but we did 1.5 miles yesterday and then again today. Miner got freaked out by a leaf. HI-larious.

We went to the zoo yesterday with Craig and Nancy and Avery and Mandy. It was HOT and HUMID! We were all soaked. Niabi Zoo (http://www.niabizoo.com/) is little.  The animals were not moving about much.  The birds were all about it.  The black bears were eating lunch and lounging in their pool.  The bears ate corn on the cob and left the cob.  Grapes one or two at  a time and left the stem.  Mandy and I waited around a while to see if they'd eat an apple, but they didn't.  We're wondering if they would eat the whole thing, or leave the core.

One thing I love about the mid-west: basements...nice and cool.

Current Mood: lazy

Our walk this morning was uneventful.  We covered more ground in the same time...remembered the bag, didn't want to get caught in the thunderstorms looming off to the north-west.

I have to drive to Dubuque today for a meeting.  Hopefully I won't have to drive in those thunderstorms...or that they won't be too bad.

I need to figure up what our mileage is in the morning.  I am guessing maybe a mile...

So, Miner and I get up at 5:20 this morning.  Get about a 1/2 block from the house when we have to turn around because someone forgot a grocery bag for the morning poop.  So, we head back out on a slightly different route.  I was 99% certain we knew about where all the dogs were on our various morning routes.  WRONG!  At the end of the block, our street T's into another.  We're part way through the intersection when a black dog of equal size to Miner comes walking out from under the car port of the house on the other side of the intersection.  No chain, no rope, no owner, and apparently no electric fence either.  The dog comes out into the street.  I am doing what I can to keep Miner on a short lead and still get this dog away with my "NO" and my Dog Whisperer dominant stance.  they still tussle a little, but I pull Miner away keep saying "NO" and we head to the other side of the street, and the dog turns back around.  Now, I can understand if we were already on "that dog's sidewalk" but we were in the street!  And it came out at us.  Needless to say, both our heart rates were up and we went on the rest of our walk.
